Glenelg Crew celebrates a great year

Fantastic Celebration from the LiveLife Glenelg Crew on Friday 8 November!

Over 200 Year 8 students from Bayview College, Casterton Secondary College, Portland Secondary College, and Heywood & District Secondary College bussed in from around the shire to meet at the Portland Civic Hall for the formalities, and then enjoy some fun activities at nearby Henty Park.

Watch a quick video of the day’s activities here.

The students were welcomed by Crew members, and joined by 30 staff and guests from the Partnership Group members, as well as seven young apprentices from Portland Aluminium. Crew delivered some amazing speeches and Year 10 members were presented with certificates recognising their participation and achievements as part of the Live4Life Crew, as well as reference letters to be included in their resumes.

A highlight for the day was definitely The Amazing Race, hosted by Clayton Starling from Beyond the Board Room, which provided a great opportunity to build connections between students across all schools and allow Crew members to use their leadership skills. It was a challenging and positive activity, with checkpoints incorporating mental health messaging. Crew led their groups of Year 8s through the challenges, running, walking, crawling, and sometimes cartwheeling across nearby Henty Park!

Huge thanks to Portland Aluminium for their support and to the apprentices attended, as well as to our Partnership Group members, and the school staff who made sure the day ran smoothly and served up yummy sliders for lunch!

Congratulations to our amazing 2024 Crew, who worked hard to create this event and showed superb leadership on the day!
