Central Goldfields Awesome Foursome
Central Goldfields Crew - Curtis, Josh, Connor and Ella
Incredible Celebration Day at Highview College on Friday 25 October!
Huge congratulations to Ella, Josh, Connor and Curtis — the four fabulous members of the inaugural Live4Life Central Goldfields Crew!
Exceptionally well-presented and planned, the event started with the Crew recapping for the Year 8s their role and the importance of positive mental health messages, before going on to describe activities they had been involved in throughout the course of the year, including the recent Crew Camp. They explained the process they went through in formulating ideas, such as their Crew theme for 2024 'LISTEN UP, STAND UP', which encourages everyone to be an upstander and not a bystander.
Special guest speaker Anthony Gray from SpinChat then gave a compelling account of his journey after a life-changing BMX accident when he was 19. The indoor session was wrapped up with an entertaining video compilation of the Crew's year before everyone headed out to enjoy some sensational baked goods from Parkview_Bakery along with a range of fun activities.
Launched just last year, Live4Life Central Goldfields shows just what a big impact a Crew can have in a small amount of time. They even got to put their public speaking training to the test in an interview with the Maryborough District Advertiser (featuring on the front page!) And there was plenty of interest from the Year 8s in getting involved next year.
Big thanks to Highview College Principal Eryn O'Mahony and co-Director of Wellbeing Abby Hansen, as well as Shelley Feilding and Terence Jaensch from Central Goldfields Shire Council. And a special shout out to Live4Life's own Annie Rowland for organising Crew Camp and delivering Youth & senior Teen Mental Health First Aid training to Highview College staff and Year 10 students. Thanks also to headspace Bendigo and Maryborough District Health Service for their support.
