Live4Life Southern Grampians was launched in 2020.
The model is delivered in partnership with the five secondary schools, Hamilton Parklands, South West Institute of TAFE and eight community agencies; the lead agency is Western District Health Services (WDHS).
…have undertaken mental health education through Live4Life Southern Grampians since 2020 and there’s an ever growing Crew of awesome mental heath ambassadors.

The Live4Life Southern Grampians Crew
The Live4Life Southern Grampians Crew is made up of students from across four of the participating secondary schools. The Crew coordinate mental health promotion activities throughout the year.

The Live4Life Southern Grampians Crew's theme for 2025 is ''Keep them near, be a listening ear. A safe place is face-to-face''.
The Crew really want to encourage their peers to reach out to someone they trust when they are feeling low or aren’t tracking so well. The Live4Life Southern Grampians Crew includes students from Monivae College, Hamilton Alexandra College, Baimbridge College and Good Shepherd College.

Southern Grampians Crew hosted an amazing disco-themed Celebration event at the Hamilton Indoor Leisure and Aquatic Centre on 31 October. A packed program included Western District Health Service CEO Rowena Clift presenting the Crew members with certificates recognising the awesome contribution they have made to young people's mental health initiatives this year.
IN THE MEDIA - LIVE4Life Southern Grampians is seeking community members to become Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructors. Participants in the program will receive evidence-based mental health and suicide prevention training from professionals.

Hamilton Spectator: Year 8 students from across the region gathered at the Hamilton Indoor Leisure and Aquatic Centre on November 11 to celebrate the Southern Grampians’ first ever Live4Life celebration event.
The impact of the pandemic on young people has been substantial. There is a real and immediate need to focus on the mental health of young people in our community, Youth Live4Life, in collaboration with local communities are seeking suitably qualified and experienced community members to become Teen Mental Health First Aid instructors.
A team of newly-trained Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructors is coming to a community near you, further increasing the number of trained Mental Health First Aiders ready to support our young people
Live4Life welcomed 31 new young ambassadors to its team on Wednesday to continue educating their peers on mental health.

“I see the true value of getting in early and teaching our young people how to look after themselves and to recognise the difference between a ‘bad day’ and what may be an emerging mental health problem. As a mental health instructor, I’m now able to teach young people the skills they need to look after their own mental health needs and how to support their mates and peers.” said Leanne Mitchell from Brauer College, Warrnmabool.
The Australian Government and the Alcohol and Drug Foundation have announced a Local Drug Action Team (LDAT) for the Southern Grampians to prevent and minimise alcohol and other drug-related harm in the community.
The Live4Life Southern Grampians LDAT is a partnership between school and community and will support young people in the area, particularly around positive mental health and alcohol use.
An initiative to tackle the region’s high suicide rates will see 20 community members trained in youth mental health first aid across the region.

Live4Life Southern Grampians is celebrating its one-year anniversary and is looking forward to another successful 12 months. Recognising and working to improve youth mental health, Live4Life has had a challenging first year.
