Leave a Gift in Your Will
Leave a lasting legacy to support youth mental health
Leaving a Gift in your Will is easier than you think. It doesn’t have to be expensive, and can be done any time you write, amend or update your Will.
Find out more by downloading our Gifts in Wills booklet.
While many of us put it off until it is too late, a legally valid Will is an important part of your future financial planning.
It’s the best way to protect your assets and make sure they are distributed according to your wishes. After first providing for loved ones, a gift in your Will means you can continue to support the important causes you care most about. It may even give you the opportunity to make a larger Gift than was possible in your lifetime.
Leaving a Gift in your Will is easier than you think. It doesn’t have to be expensive, and can be done any time you write, amend or update your Will. If you have already written a Will — and would like to add in a Gift to Youth Live4Life — all you need to do is add a short legal amendment, a codicil. We recommend that you seek the advice of a solicitor or legal advisor so that your wishes are correctly recorded and your Will legally valid.
Your legacy: the difference you can make
How would you like to be remembered? One way you can celebrate your life and let your legacy live on is by making a Gift in your Will. A Gift in your Will to Youth Live4Life reflects your commitment to improving the mental health of future generations of young people.
By including Youth Live4Life in your Will, you can help to:
- provide life-changing mental health education for secondary school students and the wider community
- support positive health messaging and stigma reduction in schools and communities
- train and mentor young people to support their peers as Mental Health Ambassadors
- upskill young people, teachers, parents and others in the community to recognise the signs of mental ill health and know where to seek help
A Gift in your Will has a profound impact and will support Youth Live4Life’s work with successive generations of young people and communities to achieve lasting change.
You can choose from three main types of bequests:
- A residual bequest – once you have provided for loved ones, you can choose to leave the residue, or a percentage of the residue of your estate to Youth Live4Life.
- A percentage of your Estate – nominating a fraction or percentage of your Estate, rather than a fixed amount, protects against inflation and ensures your gift retains its value over time, maximising its impact.
- Specific bequest – you can choose to leave a sum of money or specific assets such as property, art works, shares or jewellery to Youth Live4Life.
We recommend letting beneficiaries know about your Gift, so they understand why supporting youth mental health matters to you, and your decision to leave a Gift to YouthLive4Life.
How to include us in your Will
We have provided some suggested wording as a guide:
I [Insert your name here] make this Gift free of all deductions to Youth Live4Life Ltd of 4a Collier Street, Woodend, VIC, 3442 (ABN 82 511 418 317).
I request that my Gift be applied for the general purposes of Youth Live4Life Ltd. The official receipt of the organisation shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executor(s)/trustee(s).
I nominate Youth Live4Life to receive:
[choose one of the following]
- The whole of my estate or [insert number] percentage of my estate.
- The residue of my estate or [insert number] percentage of the residue of my estate.
- The sum of $ [insert number].
- Other – property, art works, shares, jewellery, etc. [insert details].
A general purpose gift gives us the flexibility to direct your gift to where it will make the greatest difference when the time comes. However, if you would like to support a particular area of our work, please contact us to discuss in more detail.
