Leave a gift in your will today…

And have a lasting impact on the young people of tomorrow

How will you be remembered?

Through leaving a bequest to Live4Life in your will, you can create a lasting legacy which will:

  • improve youth mental health,

  • protect young lives, and

  • reduce the devastating impact of suicide in rural and regional Australia.

Suicide is the leading cause of death among young people aged 16-24.

In rural and regional communities, the suicide rate is now 50% higher than in the major cities and 63% of young people are unable to access the mental health support they need. Mental ill-health in young Australians is increasing year on year.

You can make a difference today.

A gift to Live4Life in your will has a profound impact.

Your pledge will support the only youth mental health and suicide prevention program designed specifically for rural and regional Australia. Your legacy will empower whole communities to understand the first signs of mental ill-health and know what to do, how to help, and who to go to. In moments of crisis, that can be life-saving.

Leaving a gift in your will is easier than you may think

It doesn’t have to be expensive, and can be done any time you write, amend or update your will.

Did you know almost a fifth of Australians say they would like to include a charity in their will? But only half even have a will at all. Do you?

While many of us put it off until it is too late, a legally valid will is an important part of your future financial planning. Even if the prospect of needing one seems remote, everyone should have a valid will, irrespective of age or financial circumstances. It’s the only way to protect what’s important to you and make sure your assets are distributed according to your wishes. And writing your will while you can provides comfort and clarity for your loved ones when it matters most.

Including a gift to charity in your will can be an important expression of your values and reflect your lived experience, but it is a personal choice only you can make.

Did you know you can write a will online? An online option may not suit everybody, but it provides ease and accessibility for some and may indeed be perfect for your current circumstances.

Write your will for free

If you haven’t yet written a will, you might like to take the opportunity to write one online, completely free.

In appreciation of the support many people offer Live4Life, we’ve partnered with trusted Australian online platform Gathered Here. It’s an easy step-by-step will-writing service, with unlimited updates for life — and all completely free. You don’t have to include Live4LIfe in your will to take up this offer (but we do ask that you consider it). Everyone deserves to live a full life, wherever they grow up. A pledge from your estate can make a critical difference to a young person growing up in a rural community.

Writing a will today reduces emotional and financial stress on your loved ones. Including a gift won’t affect your wealth in your lifetime but it will have a meaningful impact after you’ve gone.

What type of bequest is right for you?

You can choose from different types of bequests. Percentage or residual gifts are particularly effective as they allow you to put your loved ones first and ensure your gift retains its value over time.

A residual bequest

Once you have provided for loved ones, you can choose to leave the residue of your estate (or a percentage of the residue) to Live4Life.

A percentage of your estate

Nominating a fraction or percentage of your estate, rather than a fixed amount, protects against inflation and ensures your gift retains its value over time, maximising its impact.

Specific bequest

You can choose to leave a sum of money, or specific assets such as property, art works, shares or jewellery to Live4Life.

In memory

You may wish to honour a friend or loved one by leaving a gift in their memory — a powerful way of celebrating a life. If you would like to do this, we can recognise that person as part of your gift.

We recommend letting beneficiaries know about your gift, so they understand why supporting rural youth mental health matters to you, and why you have made a decision to leave a gift to Live4Life.

How can we help you?

You can choose to write your will with a solicitor or public trustee. You can share this wording with them, or write it into your will if you decide to create it yourself. If you feel comfortable, you can also now create a legally binding will online for free.

If you would like to include us in your will, here is some suggested wording as a guide (Youth Live4Life Ltd is our registered charity name):

  • I [insert your name here] make this gift free of all deductions to Youth Live4Life Ltd of 4a Collier Street, Woodend, VIC, 3442 (ABN 82 511 418 317).

  • I request that my gift be applied for the general purposes of Youth Live4Life Ltd. The official receipt of the organisation shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executor(s)/trustee(s).

  • I nominate Youth Live4Life to receive (choose one of the following):

    • The whole of my estate or [insert number %] percent of my estate

    • The residue of my estate or [insert number %] percent of the residue of my estate

    • The sum of $ [insert number]

    • Other: property, art works, shares, jewellery, etc [insert details]

A general purpose gift gives us the flexibility to direct your bequest to where it will make the greatest difference when the time comes. However, if you would like to support a particular area of our work, please contact us to discuss in more detail.

Our promise to you

If you include Live4Life in your will, we will use your gift wisely and in accordance with your wishes, so it has maximum impact in protecting the lives of young people in rural and regional Australia.

We’ll answer any questions you have and keep you up-to-date with our work — as well as invite you to Live4Life events if you wish.

Any information you provide is treated in the strictest confidence. We will protect your privacy at all times.

We understand your circumstances can change and you may change your mind at any time. We understand that your loved ones will always come first.

Advising us of your intention

Making a will is a deeply personal matter. However, if you are planning to leave a gift to Live4Life (or have already done so) please do get in touch. Letting us know your intention gives you the opportunity to discuss your wishes with us. It also helps us plan for the future, and explore ways to thank you and recognise your generosity.

Would you like to receive more information or chat to us about how leaving a gift in your will can support Live4Life? We’d be delighted to discuss the options with you and tell you more about our life-changing work in rural and regional communities.

Everyone deserves to live a full life

Young people growing up in rural and regional communities experience greater challenges to their mental health. In a country like Australia, where you grow up shouldn’t increase your risk of suicide — but it does.

Supporting Live4Life recognises that young people in rural and regional communities need our help. It acknowledges that we can do better for them. Study after study points to evidence-based prevention as where we can make the biggest, most immediate impact. Let’s give young people and their communities the skills and knowledge they need to support themselves — and protect young lives.
