Youth Mental Health

News Story from Mixx FM, August 14th, 2024

LIVE4Life Southern Grampians is seeking community members to become Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructors.

Participants in the program will receive evidence-based mental health and suicide prevention training from professionals.

Live4Life's approach is part of a broader effort to build community resilience in the local area and involves partnering with education facilities including Balmoral K-12 Community College, Hamilton Parklands School, and Monivae College.

Live4Life has also partnered with Western District Health Services and the Southern Grampians Shire Council to promote the program.

A spokesperson for the program said it has been designed to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and to promote mental health literacy as well as encourage positive help-seeking behaviours.
