There are smiles, raucous laughter and friendly greetings in a large room in a Victorian council office building as a group of teenagers sit down to watch a video presentation.

This is not your usual school excursion — it's Live4Life, a mental health education program that equips young people with the skills to save lives in a mental health crisis.

IN THE MEDIA - The Warragul & Drouin Gazette ‘Students celebrate fifth year of Life4Life’ Celebrations have marked the fifth successful year of the Live4Life youth mental health program in Baw Baw Shire.

The Live4Life Baw Baw Crew came together for their end-of-year Celebration Day at the Summit Adventure Park on Monday 28 October.

Golden Globe-winning musician Lisa Gerrard will open the gates to her lavish garden, The Cork Tree, at her Drouin West property on 2nd November, raising money for the Life4Life Baw Baw youth mental health and suicide prevention program.

Live4Life is a health promotion charity, using the Live4Life model to support rural and regional communities and their young people.

Welcome to the 2024 Live4Life Baw Baw Crew! 35 young people from eight secondary schools across Baw Baw Shire were inducted as Live4Life Baw Baw Mental Health Ambassadors on February 29.

On November 13, 40 Baw Baw Live4Life crew members from seven local secondary schools gathered at The Summit Adventure Park to celebrate another 12 successful months of the Live4Life program, in which more than 800 local Year 8 and 10 students completed the Teen Mental Health First Aid training.

Last Monday over 1,100 students came together at the West Gippsland Arts Centre to launch Baw Baw Live4Life for 2023.

Local young people from eight secondary schools across Baw Baw Shire will work together to raise awareness about mental health as part of the Baw Baw Live4Life program.

Congratulations to Susanne Lampitt who has been awarded the 'Live4Life Community Champion' of 2022! Susanne has had an enormous impact on the community around her. She has delivered over 300 Mental Health First Aid Courses.

The Warragul and Drouin Gazette: Larder Park played host to 900 Year 8 students for the official Baw Baw Shire Live4Life launch on Thursday. Students spent the day learning about mental health and hearing from guest speakers and Live4Life crew members from local schools. Live4Life is a health promotion charity that operates across six rural and regional Victorian communities. It aims to improve the lives of young people through mental health education and suicide prevention.

What a turnout! Over 900 Year 8 students headed to Lardner Park for the recent launch of Live4Life Baw Baw. With beautiful words from Live4Life Crew Kyle and Laura about their own lived experience – "you could hear a pin drop" – a DJ and over 1000 snags sizzled (thanks Rotary!), it was a wonderful day to celebrate getting together.

The Warragul and Drouin Gazette: A further 27 secondary students from throughout Baw Baw Shire have been inducted into the Live4Life Crew. The induction held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre is the first step for the students in years nine and 10 becoming community leaders and mental health ambassadors. They have committed to work collaboratively to reduce the stigma of mental ill health within their communities and decided on a theme for the year which will be announced at an upcoming launch function.
