Benalla Live4Life Walk for Mental Health 16 Nov
Live4Life Benalla
On Saturday 16 November, Alex, Andrew, Mikayla, Sophie and Erin will all be walking for 12 hours around Lake Benalla to raise funds and awareness of mental health, with all money raised to be donated to Live4Life.
After attending the School for Student Leadership in Marlo earlier this year, the five Benalla P-12 College students wanted to come up with a community project to benefit Benalla, and a 12-hour walk around Lake Benalla to raise funds for Live4Life’s Youth Mental Health First Aid Training was perfect. All five have done the Live4Life mental health first aid training in Year 8.
Erin, Mikayla and Sophie have gone on this year to join the Live4Life Crew. Erin said the mental health of young people in the area was an issue close to all the students’ hearts. “I guess that it’s just something a lot of young people in Benalla struggle with, their mental health. So we want to spread awareness of the issue, and raise funds to help.”
The event, running 7am–7pm, will begin at Benalla Library and will take the route of the lakeside walking track. There will be a sausage sizzle and raffle.
Big thanks to local businesses who donated to the raffle! And thanks also to Steph Brack for her incredible support of young people in Benalla.
The community is encouraged to take part, but the students said people can do as much or as little as they like, and not everyone is expected to walk for 12 hours.
