Benalla Celebration Day a festival of positive mental health
Live4Life Benalla Crew with guest speaker Laura Crozier
Live4Life Benalla's Crew Celebration Day took place on October 22 at the Glasshouse, Benalla Lakeside Community Centre.
And it was huge! Over 40 Crew members welcomed staff, Partnership Group members and Year 8 students from FCJ College and Benalla P-12 College. They took the opportunity to recap key mental health messages from the junior Teen Mental Health First Aid training, and spoke about the relevance of their Crew theme "We're perfect, even with our thorns".
They also promoted an upcoming fundraiser, Our Walk for Mental Health. You can read more about that here.
Guest speaker (and Crew Champion) Laura Crozier spoke beautifully about her experience as a Crew member and and its ongoing value to her in her journey. A spectacular range of activities provided loads of fun for young people and adults alike, including a mechanical bull, dunk tank, (inflatable) axe-throwing, Big Zorb Ball Fun Run, and even cookie decorating, a hot sauce station, face painting, dress-up/photo booth, snow cone machine and sausage sizzle! Awesome!
Huge thanks to Benalla P-12 College and FCJ College Benalla for all their hard work in making the Celebration possible and also to Youth Development Coordinator Steph from Benalla Rural City Council, and Partners Tomorrow Today Foundation, Benalla Health, NE Tracks LLEN, NESAY and Benalla Flexible Learning Centre. Benalla was one of Live4Life's first expansion communities and a brilliant example of how the model works at its best. Well done folks!
