On World Mental Health Day, we want to give a HUGE shout out to all our Live4Life Crews, Crew4Life members, Support Workers, School and Community Partnership Groups and Staff for the tireless work they do to support the mental health of young people in rural and regional communities.
The theme this year is MENTAL HEALTH IS A UNIVERSAL HUMAN RIGHT — an idea that unifies us all as a community and helps raise awareness and supports activities that promote and protect everyone's mental health.
For Live4Life, every day is a world mental health day, a time to have conversations and listen to friends talk about their joys and challenges with respect and kindness.
We'd also like to thank all our LAP it UP participants for swimming and making a splash for youth mental health and suicide prevention. LAP it UP not only raises awareness and support of young people in rural and regional communities, but it promotes a healthy mind and body, fosters connections, and encourages us to strive for our very best both in and out of the water!
Did you know?
Australia's suicide rate is 40% higher in rural over metropolitan areas
over 60% of young people attempting to access mental health services are unable to access a service
Live4Life is the only youth mental health education and suicide prevention model designed specifically for rural and regional communities. It fills the gap by promoting help-seeking behaviours, recruiting young Mental Health Ambassadors, partnering with local schools and organisations, delivering evidence-based suicide prevention and mental health education to young people in schools, and training the adults who support them.
If you need help, support is available.
