Live4Life reaches 29,991 young people
Latest data compiled at the end of 2024 shows that Live4Life continues to extend its reach across rural and regional Australia. 29,991 young people living in rural and regional communities have now received evidence-based mental health education since Live4Life began!
Last year alone, Live4Life reached more than 8,900 young people at 64 schools across Victoria and Tasmania. And 297 of those young people took the extra step and volunteered as Mental Health Ambassadors in the Live4Life Crews.
In addition, 688 adults were trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid® in 2024, taking the total number of adults trained since Live4Life began to over 3,000. That means, for every 10 young people in Live4Life communities, there is at least one adult trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid who is able to assist a young person in a time of need. Last year, an incredible 175 local organisations joined together in partnerships to improve and invest in young people’s mental health and reduce suicide.
Why are these numbers important? Our goal is to establish Live4Life as a model available to all rural communities across Australia. These numbers demonstrate that - Live4Life continues to extend its reach - We are increasing the critical mass of community members educated in mental health - Communities are positively influencing broader attitudes and behaviours relating to mental illness - Together, we are all are creating sustainable and long-lasting generational change
These 2024 results reaffirm Live4Life's established growth trajectory, adding to already substantial numbers trained across all participating Live4Life communities. They reinforce the 'whole-of-community' aspect of the Live4Life model and present an empirical measure of its positive impact in making communities more knowledgeable, networked and resilient when it comes to youth mental health.
