Hepburn Crew visits aged care for Wear It Purple Day
Live4Life Hepburn Crew presents a ‘Wear It Purple Day’ artwork to the residents at Daylesford aged care
Wear It Purple Day was recognised and celebrated in a very special way when Hepburn Crew visited Central Highlands Rural Health Aged Care on August 30.
These awesome young people of Daylesford College spent the afternoon with residents, making friends, sharing stories, having some fun and promoting positive messages around mental health and self-care. Hepburn Crew's 2024 Theme is 'Be aware about self-care' and this was a fabulous way to put it into practice!
Just brilliant to see different parts of a community coming together and demonstrating genuine intergenerational connection and support, with the residents and staff welcoming the young people into their home and enjoying games, conversations, a singalong, and even some fingernail painting! Wear it Purple Day strives to foster supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environments for rainbow young people and the Crew were accompanied by one of their school peers who spoke expressively to residents about their lived experience.
Crew also presented a gift of a beautiful rainbow artwork adorned with the fingerprints of young people who helped create it.
Thanks to Hepburn Shire Council who supported this initiative. This was a gathering that filled everyone's cup. As Crew member Rose said afterwards, "Can we do that again? I loved that!"
