Live4Life launches 2026 Break O’Day Crew

2026 Crew: Inside at Fingal Launch

Live4Life Break O’Day introduced the members of the 2026 Crew to their community with a memorable launch event at Fingal on Monday 13th April.

Attended by representatives from Tasmania Police, Tasmania Health Service, Youth Health North, Fingal Valley Neighbourhood House, St Helens District High School, St Marys District School, Relationships Australia Tasmania, Reconnect Relationships Australia Tasmania, Anglicare Tasmania, THEIRS (Talk, Hear and Help, Educate, Inform, Refer and Support), Break O’Day Employment Connect, Project Y, Paint Me Happy, CUC Eastern Tasmania, and distinguished guests Mayor Mick Tucker and Inspector Danny Jackson of Tas Police, the event was planned and MC’d by the Year 9 and 10 members of the 2026 Live4Life Crew.

13 Crew members welcomed staff, Partnership Group members and over 40 Year 8 students from both St Marys District School and St Helens District High School. They outlined key mental health messages, introduced their 2026 Theme “Don’t hide behind the mask, break the chain, free the mind. Take the time to unwind.” This was devised by the members of the 2026 Crew to express the importance of finding a safe person to talk to and take off the mask, thus breaking the chain and stigma placed around mental ill-health and or struggles facing young people.

The Crew invited Guest Speaker Laura Johnson (OAM), founder and producer of THEIRS, on stage to tell her story of the importance of being aware of who you have around you that allows you to remove the mask and really unpack what is weighing on you.

“The Launch was amazing and felt as if a truly important message got across in the youth community through Grade 8s from St Marys and St Helens schools.”

“I was excited to join the Crew for a second year after all the great experiences, fun moments and great memories made, all while contributing to the mental health movement.”

“The day was really good, as Crew, our guest speaker, Laura Johnson, was very encouraging and I think the community saw and understood not only the theme but Live4Life as a whole. I am proud to be Crew, and I wouldn’t change anything, it’s inclusive, exciting and important. I find it gives me purpose.”

115 students in Year 8 and Year 10 students from St Helens District High and St Marys District School will now take part in the Teen Mental Health First Aid training as part of the Live4Life program this year.

Live4Life Break O'Day is funded by the Federal Government’s National Suicide Prevention Leadership and Support Program (NSPLSP)
