Youth Advisory Committee: We want you!

Are you 18-25 years old? Passionate about improving youth mental health?

Live4Life is proud to announce the inauguration of the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) as a formal component of our governance structure. We want you to represent and embed the voices of young people within Live4Life, ensuring your perspectives, experiences, and ideas are integral to our organisation's decision-making processes.

We are looking for young people 18-25 who:

  • Are passionate about improving youth mental health

  • Want to actively contribute to the development and improvement of Live4Life

  • Can provide feedback and advocate for young people

  • Are able to commit to the committee's key dates and activities (including six bi-monthly meetings online after school/work hours)

We are keen to hear from you if you:

  • Live in (or grew up in) a rural or regional area in Victoria or Tasmania

  • Have great written and verbal communication skills

  • Are proficient in using emails, Google drive and technology generally

  • Are committed to inclusivity and diversity

We strongly encourage you to apply, whether you have or have not had previous experience with commitees or youth-led groups. Similarly, we will be looking to fill some positions with members who have experience of some part of the Live4Life program — but it is not a requirement.

Members of the YAC will:

  • Receive training in relevant areas, such as Advocacy & Communications and Cultural Awareness & Sensitivity

  • Be welcomed to a supportive environment with passionate, friendly people, working together to assist an organisation that lives its values and principles

  • Get paid for meetings and additional work

  • Have all related travel and accommodation expenses covered by Live4Life

  • Build confidence in professional settings

  • Enhance their leadership and participation skills

  • Represent the YAC in media opportunities and at Live4Life events

YAC members play a key role in ensuring that the Live4Life organisation remains youth-centred. Through mentorship opportunities and engagement with organisational leadership, YAC members develop valuable professional skills while building a supportive network of youth allies. YAC members raise awareness of youth issues, promote dialogue with the Live4Life Board, and contribute to creating programs and practices that reflect the lived experiences of young people.

The YAC position is designed to empower young leaders to drive meaningful change within Live4Life and the broader community.

You will need to have, or be willing to obtain, a current Working with Children’s Check and a current Police Check. (These can be completed with support from Live4Life upon being offered the position.)

Applications close Monday 14 July at 5pm.
