Putting the fun into fundraising

When Melbourne Uni medical student Mia, and her partner Kade, found themselves with hours of free time they set about finding some fun by making facemasks and donating to charity.

“Mental Health was at the top of our list of charities to support. We spoke to a few people, did a bit of research and chose Youth Live4Life. The choice for us was clear: mental health, young people and rural communities, all our selection boxes were ticked”

Mia and Kade have sewn, and sold, about 100 face masks raising a generous total of $1,760 for Youth Live4Life. “At first, we sold them to our friends and word spread quickly about the business. We sold one of our masks to a school captain at Mount Scopus Memorial College which holds a weekly charity event where students give a gold coin donation. The school captains got together and decided to nominate Youth Live4life as their charity for the week. “It was a really fun and meaningful way to spend our Uni break, particularly with so much free time on our hands” said Mia.

Youth Live4Life CEO Bernard Galbally congratulated the pair. “We are extremely thankful to Mia and Kade for placing young people’s mental health front and centre of this initiative. They have shown great caring and generosity in these challenging times – what fabulous Live4Life ambassadors!
