Live4Life is very proud to announce that Matilda Hasell has taken up a position on its Board of Directors. As a past Crew member (and an inaugural member of Crew4Life), Matilda is the first person with experience of the Live4Life program as a participant to serve on the Board.

With a Masters of International Development Practice and years working in fundraising roles across the not-for-profit sector, including FareShare, SecondBite, and now Deaf Children Australia, Matilda has served on the Revenue Sourcing (fundraising) Committee since 2024. She brings passion, expertise and a deep personal understanding of the Live4Life model to the Board and was warmly welcomed to her new role at the first meeting for 2026 in February.

Matilda says: "Live4Life has been such an important part of my life that it feels like I’ve grown up with the organisation. To now be the first person who has gone through the program to serve on the Board feels really meaningful. Growing up in a rural town, being part of the Crew and staying involved through Crew4Life has given me insight into the different challenges young people experience and how these can vary across communities. It reminds me that every decision has real consequences and that policies and strategies need to reflect the evolving needs and perspectives of the young people we serve."

She first became involved in Macedon Ranges Live4Life Crew in 2013 when she was in Year 9 and says, "In joining the Board, I hope to bring the perspective of someone who has experienced the program and help ensure young people’s voices remain at the heart of the work.". She explains, "I truly believe in the work Live4Life does. I’m a donor and volunteer myself and have seen the impact first hand. The programs are carefully evaluated, and strong governance structures keep the organisation accountable. The work genuinely makes a difference in young people’s lives."

Live4LIfe CEO Jeremy Wiggins speaks highly of Matilda's long association with Live4Life. "Matilda has been an incredibly valuable contributor to Live4Life for well over a decade, from an exemplary young participant to a considered, well-informed, and passionate adult who has volunteered and served at a high level within the organisation. We are delighted to have secured her experience and expertise on the Board."

"I adore working in the nfp space, which keep me busy, challenged, and constantly learning," Matilda reflects, and says that serving on the Board "allows me to give back to a community that shaped me." She adds, "Being here feels very full circle, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute, to learn, and to help ensure the organisation continues to provide young people with the same opportunities I was fortunate to have."
