Glenelg Crew hit the airwaves

The Live4Life Glenelg Crew have made their radio debut with a series of inspiring messages which are being aired on Mixx FM and 3HA from 3 August through to 21 October.

Young mental health ambassadors from Portland Secondary College, Bayview Secondary College, Heywood & District Secondary College, and Casterton Secondary College took to the microphones to spark vital, life-changing conversations about inclusion, resilience, and community connection. Instead of just scripting basic mental health messages, these incredible young people went above and beyond. In record time, they delivered four deeply moving, unique messages that detail the journey of a Live4Life Crew and highlight how this opportunity has changed their lives.

This campaign beautifully highlights what happens when we empower our youth. What started as a simple request for mental health messages quickly transformed into a powerful reflection on growth, leadership, and community connection. To bring the project to life, two talented crew members from each school were step into the recording booth and lend their voices to the airwaves.

A massive congratulations to the Glenelg Live4Life Crew for their creativity, vulnerability, and leadership. They are truly broadening the conversation and making their community a safer, more supportive place.

SCRIPT ONE

As Live4Life Glenelg Portland Secondary Crew, we know young people often turn to their friends when they're struggling. That's why we're helping create connections and healthier conversations about mental health in our school. Working with Year 8 students, we reinforce the important messages they learn in Teen Mental Health First Aid and encourage help-seeking behaviour. We also promote Youth Mental Health First Aid training for adults, helping them better understand and support young people. SCRIPT TWO

Hi, we're Live4Life Glenelg, Casterton Crew. Our goal is to break the stigma around mental health and raise awareness throughout our community. This year we're sharing our message, "Different isn't wrong when everyone belongs," through events and activities we design and lead. From working with Year 8 students at Launch and Celebration events to delivering community-wide mental health awareness activities, we're helping create a more connected and supportive community. Being part of Live4Life Glenelg, Bayview Crew is fun, rewarding and incredibly supportive. We've learned more about mental health, the importance of looking after ourselves, and how we can make a positive difference in the lives of others. Live4Life helps young people connect, build confidence, and feel like they belong. Through activities, conversations, and shared experiences, we learn how to support ourselves and our peers. Before joining Live4Life Glenelg, Heywood District Secondary Crew, a lot of us didn't realise how much young people can actually do to make a difference.
