How this mental health advocate is silently changing lives in rural Tasmania

Casey Musicka has dedicated her time to work with young people on Tasmania's East Coast to promote mental health and prevent suicide but now it's her turn to be recognised.

The Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Community Network announced that Ms Musicka was nominated in the 'Outstanding Contribution' category in the 2026 Tasmanian LiFE Awards.

As the program coordinator for Live4Life Break O'Day - a youth mental health and suicide prevention program for young people in rural areas - Ms Musicka delivered mental health education to students in years 8 and 10 and 11, as well as to adults in the wider community.

Ms Musicka said she saw many people struggling with mental health challenges in the area.

"Over time, I saw many people struggling with mental health challenges without the understanding or support they deserved," she said.
