September saw the Live4Life Moira Crew & Partnership Group mark the year’s achievements with a spectacular Mental Health Expo at Cobram Sports Stadium.

Moira Shire Live4Life crews have been recognised for their work tackling mental health problems. They are finalists in the 7News Young Achiever Awards in the ‘Group Achievement in the Community’ category.

On 1 March we had our first Live4Life Crew Induction for the year in Moira and we would like to give a massive shout out to the amazing students who have put their hands up to be Crew in 2023!

Cobram Anglican Grammar School student Tahlia Muller said she thought the program would help generate understanding within the school community.

“I think it’ll help them understand more what other people are going though and what experience they have to face, and how to help,” she said.

“I think it’ll be pretty effective. It brings fun to the community and since COVID-19, it will just like lift the mood.”

“Live4Life Moira 2021 will include the delivery of teen mental health first aid to all local secondary schools s well as youth mental health first aid to delivered to teachers, parents and the wider community.” said Moira Shire Mayor Cr Libro Mustica.

“Young people are the key to this program’s success and it is evident our youth are interested to learn about how to maintain great mental health and what to do when it affects us” Moira Shire Mayor Cr Libro Mustica.

“I’m so very pleased we’re finally delivering proactive mental health strategies for students to support each other, I’m looking forward to increasing awareness and community involvement” Kimberley Tempest, Cobram Secondary College Principal.

October is Victorian Mental Health Month. This year, the focus is on young people, particularly those aged 16-25.
