IN THE MEDIA - Glenelg Shire On Friday 27 October, more than 225 secondary school students from across the Glenelg Shire were on hand in Portland for Live4Life Glenelg’s annual celebration event.

Live4Life Glenelg celebrates the achievements of 2023! On October 27, the 43 Live4Life Crew members from Years 9 & 10 plus Year 8s from across the Glenelg Shire got together for their annual Celebration event.

Live4Life Glenelg, supported by major sponsor Portland Aluminium present an evening with Australian Olympic gold medalist Brooke Hanson OLY OAM and psychologist Dr Jodie Fleming to help support parents and carers through their journey of growing with the young person in their life.

Live4Life Glenelg and local charity United Way Glenelg have come together as part of a GiveNow alliance. The alliance provides local residents the opportunity to make a charitable, tax-free donation to Live4Life Glenelg through United Way.

What an amazing day at the Live4Life Glenelg launch for 2023. The Live4Life Glenelg Crew is made up from students from Casterton Secondary College, Bayview College, Heywood and District Secondary College and Portland Secondary College.

The Portland Observer: Youth Mental Health First Aid training is returning this August … The training is delivered through award-winning youth based mental health initiative Live4Life Glenelg.

Following pandemic lockdowns and event restrictions, students from across the Glenelg Shire have come together for the first time in two years to successfully launch the Live4Life Glenelg program for 2022.

The impact of the pandemic on young people has been substantial. There is a real and immediate need to focus on the mental health of young people in our community, Youth Live4Life, in collaboration with local communities are seeking suitably qualified and experienced community members to become Teen Mental Health First Aid instructors.

Mental Health First Aid® has recognised Glenelg Shire as a ‘Champion Community’ for its commitment to improving the mental health of young people and the adults who support them.

As students return to the classroom for yet another year of learning in the midst of a pandemic there is an immediate need to focus on the mental health of young people in our community.  With additional funding support from Portland Aluminium the award-winning Youth Mental Health model Live4Life will be supported to become completely embedded and sustainable in Glenelg. 

Live4Life Glenelg Crew have officially launched Live4Life in their school communitites, marking the fifth year of the mental health initiative for young people in the municipality.

A team of newly-trained Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructors is coming to a community near you, further increasing the number of trained Mental Health First Aiders ready to support our young people
