Below you will find some of the research that informs our activities.
We stay on top of new and emerging research, particularly in areas of youth mental health, and use it to inform the development of our organisation and the Live4Life model.
LifeSpan – a systems approach to suicide prevention
Research from the Black Dog Institute, exploring a comprehensive systems approach to suicide prevention that integrates the perspectives, needs and contexts of multiple sectors, communities and organisations.
Mental Health First Aid Australia
A core component of our Live4Life model, Mental Health First Aid® Australia training courses are grounded in evidence-based research. Through insights about real-world application and impact, they develop course curriculum that meets the population needs in various settings in Australia and around the world.
Mission Australia’s 5-year Mental Health Report
A report detailing the reality that action is urgently needed to stem rising youth mental illness, and which highlights the important role of friends, parents and the internet as sources of help for young people with a probable serious mental illness.
National Mental Health Commission
Independent monitoring and reporting on the extent to which people with lived experience of mental illness, their families and other support people, are supported to live contributing lives, across health and other domains, such as early childhood, education, employment, disability and housing.
Orygen: Raising the bar for youth suicide prevention
This report is a culmination of an extensive program of work conducted throughout 2016 by Orygen in consultation with the Australian youth mental health and suicide prevention sectors and in partnership with young people themselves.

This Mental Health of Children and Adolescents Survey is the largest national survey examining the mental health and wellbeing of Australian children and adolescents.

Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System - Interim Report
This interim report contains a number of priority recommendations that address immediate needs and lay the foundations for a new approach to mental health. This is an important first step.
Productivity Commission
The inquiry final report was handed to the Australian Government on 30 June 2020.
The release of the final report by the Government is the final step in the process.
