Matty’s story

Do you know Matty? We love his story (so we wanted to share it) and thank him for the energy he brings to the Live4Life story! It's superhero'ish!

"I first joined the Live4Life Crew in Macedon Ranges many, many, MANY moons ago when I was a wee little Year 9.

I was always “that” kid who put his hand up for everything and anything and Live4Life was no exception.

It seemed like a great leadership opportunity, a great way to make friends and make a positive impact.

Whilst I have thrown myself into many different groups, activities, and events over the years, Live4Life is the one that has stuck.

I formed so many amazing friendships whilst I was on the Crew (that I still hold near and dear). It helped me develop my skills as a leader, an involved community member and a mental health advocate, exceeding all my expectations.

So, when the opportunity arose to become a trainer for the model and get back out into schools to deliver this important and much-needed education, I couldn’t say no!

It’s always been difficult to measure the impact you have on the community and the young people you engage with. Once you leave that room for the final session you might never see firsthand the way you’ve influence those people. But the amount of times that people have stopped me in the street, the hallways at uni or at social events and told me they remember me from the Live4Life program and the way it has helped them is staggering.

That’s one of the reasons I’m still here and involved today. Not only is it something I’m genuinely passionate about and love doing, but I have gotten to see the positive effect this has had on so many people and the impact it’s made on the community.

Whilst I can easily say that Live4Life changed my life, in the same breath, I can say the same for so many other people as well."
