Laura’s story

My journey with Live4Life started when I joined the crew when I was in Year 9 alllll the way back in 2016! People often ask me why I joined the crew in the first place and my answer is simple - because Live4Life gave me the tools I needed to navigate my mental health when I needed them most.

If there was even a chance I could be a part of the crew and potentially help someone the way the program helped me, then that’s exactly what I wanted to do!

Since I joined the Crew, I’ve never left! I love the program and the message it sends to young people so I’ve always jumped at opportunities to stay involved. The thing that makes that possible for me is that everyone who works for Live4Life is so understanding that I’m not always up for doing certain things as I need to take care of my mental health. So there’s no pressure to do any more than you feel up to doing, which has made it a really easy, genuine and happy experience and community to be a part of!

Being a part of Live4Life has given me some amazing opportunities like being on the radio, speaking at Live4Life’s Spring Dinner and it’s given me a platform to have a voice in my community! Whenever I get a call from one of the amazing people that works for Live4Life, I’m ALWAYS excited! And the fact that everyone I’ll be working with whenever a new opportunity comes my way will be just as passionate as I am makes the experience even better.

The best part of being a part of the Live4Life family is that we’re all in it together. We’re all working hard for a cause to help entire communities. It’s a pretty great feeling to know you could be helping thousands of young people by doing something that you love and taking up an opportunity that is special to you - which every opportunity Live4Life brings my way is.
