Sally’s story

My Live4Life journey started a whole 10 years ago...right back when the program began in Macedon Ranges. At the time I was going through some mental health adjustments of my own, it was a pretty daunting time in high school (and way back then it was so embarrassing if you needed help with your mental health) Live4Life helped (and continues to) open up so many conversations for me and those around me and I loved every minute of it!

Once the program came to end I knew I wanted to get involved further, I stuck my hand up and became apart of the Live4Life Crew, this was a whole new adventure on its own! From speaking on behalf of the program at the Melbourne Convention Centre to completing my work experience placement with the Macedon Ranges Youth Development Unit, I gained so many skills that I still use in my day to day life now I stayed on after the first year with the Crew and helped train and mentor the new Crew members for the following two years which was nothing short of EPIC. I made so many friends and I loved watching others grow from the experiences we shared, being apart of the Crew really challenges you in the best way because its such a comforting environment!

Once I hit VCE I knew my Live4Life journey was going to press pause as I needed to put my head down and focus on studying Luckily enough for me after VCE I jumped back into Live4Life by helping run sessions, speaking at the Launch and Celebration events - I have been apart of the camps as well which are awesome and just so much fun Live4Life has been such an incredible part of my life and taught me more than I can put into words, it helped shaped me in to me and I couldn’t be more grateful I can’t wait for all the things we might do in the future together!

And yes…. Saying I have been apart of the program for 10 years does make me feel old!
